I Couldn’t Get a Job

When I decided to go to college, I knew that there was no way I could pay for it. But I wanted my children to have a better life than I had, so I did it anyway. I had to take out several student loans so that I could get a teaching degree. When I graduated, however, I couldn’t find a teaching job. I applied everywhere in my small town, but no one would hire me. I had to take a job at a call center instead. And making all those payments wasn’t even a remote possibility. So I decided to consolidate federal student loans. Under my new plan, I was able to defer payment for several years.
