Obstacles of Raising a Pig
raising a pig is harder work than I thought it would be. When I decided to get a pot-bellied pig for a pet, I had visions of walking it around my neighborhood, attracting curious glances, and answering speculative questions. Instead, I found myself trying to potty-train a pig who just wasn’t interested in pooping outside. I found myself being eaten out of house and home. I found myself with no garden left to speak of in my back yard. And I found myself thinking about moving out to the country just so I could make my pig happy. I’m not sure if bringing home a pig to raise as a pet was a good idea, I just know that in addition to all the negatives, I also find myself looking into the pig’s eyes and seeing a highly intelligent animal. I found myself talking to the pig as though it were a roommate. I found myself eating less bacon and pork products. I found myself.
